I am involved in fund raising on behalf of a local musician/singer in the Washington D.C. area. His name is Charlie Taylor and he is a 59 year old entertainer who has no health insurance and is presently on a ventilator and feeding tubes in the ICU at the Weinburg Center in Baltimore, Maryland. A large group (30-40) of local musicians familiar with Charlie Taylor are gathering to produce a compilation CD/DVD with 12 original songs to benefit Charlie Taylor. The co-producers are Don Halcombe (a long time friend of Charlie Taylor) and Jimmy Robinson of New York City a recording engineer with 35 years experience recording David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, etc. Another co-producer is Roy Thomas Baker of Beverly Hills California with multi-platinum credits producing Journey, Foreigner, The Cars, Devo, Queen, etc. The recording will be done at Sheffield Institure in Phoenix, Maryland with credits including Lionel Richie, Rod Steward, The Baltimore Orioles, The Baltimore Ravens, etc. and will be assisted by Julius Crawford (a graduate from Sheffield Institute). The project is set to launch between June and July of this year and is presently fund-raising and looking for sponsors to help with the fund raising activities. Anyone interested in helping to promote this project please contact Don Halcombe at (703) 791-2858 in Virginia. Thank you all on behalf of Charlie Taylor and on behalf of all of the Charlie Taylor’s in this world who have given so much of their lives to keep us entertained.
